An old, stately red barn used for mules was part of the original farm on which the South Carolina Department of Agriculture's Pee Dee State Farmers Market in Florence now resides. In order to preserve the integrity of the 100-year-old structure, the Department has renovated the barn. In fact, it has been Barn Again! The red barn is now used to market and promote South Carolina agricultural products. The Barn Again Market also serves as a center for marketing workshops and seminars.

 

The Red Barn Potter

Elijah Thomas spends a few hours each day at his potter’s wheel in his studio at the Red Barn. He makes a variety of pottery, including lead free, dishwasher and microwave safe, which is usable for both food and drink purposes. His “Confederate Cup” and “Batter Bowl” are two of the popular items he sells. Visiting with him is a delightful experience for young and old alike.
