An old, stately red barn used for mules was part
of the original farm on which the South Carolina Department of
Agriculture's Pee Dee State Farmers Market in Florence now resides.
In order to preserve the integrity of the 100-year-old structure,
the Department
has renovated the barn. In fact, it has been Barn Again!
The red barn is now used to market and promote South Carolina agricultural
products as well as housing a café, a potter's shop and
a pecan kitchen. The Barn Again Market also serves as a center
for marketing workshops and seminars.
Estelle's Pecan
Kitchen and Carolina Store
Estelle’s Pecan Kitchen and Carolina Store is owned and
operated by Estelle Nowlin. Retired from many years in the pecan
business,
she has the expertise in creating wonderful pecan confectionaries.
Estelle roasts and coats her pecan products right in the Red
Barn. She also carries other South Carolina products
like jams, jellies, sauces, souvenirs, novelties and gifts.

The Red Barn Potter
Elijah Thomas spends a few hours each day at his potter’s
wheel in his studio at the Red Barn. He makes a variety of pottery,
including lead free, dishwasher and microwave safe, which is
usable for both food and drink purposes. His “Confederate
Cup” and “Batter Bowl” are two of the popular
items he sells. Visiting with him is a delightful experience
for young and old alike.
